A Day in Bethlehem: Holy Cross Parish Pilgrimage

by Steve Ray on October 8, 2009

Today was a great day in Bethlehem with many blessings from God. Everyone is doing well and saying this far exceeded their expectations. We started at the Bethlehem Shop for a while where everyone enjoyed buying religious items and gifts. We heard the Our Father in Aramaic, the language of Jesus.

Then to Shepherds Field for Mass in a cave, then to lunch at Christmas Tree Restaurant where we ate schwarma and falafil. Then to the Church of the Nativity to see and touch where Jesus was born. Leaving Bethlehem we drove to Ein Kerem to visit the Church of the Visitation where Mary traveled to visit her relative Elizabeth.

Then we drove back to the hotel for dinner and a free evening. Tomorrow we start out at 5:15 AM to walk the Via Dolorosa and have Mass at the Tomb of Christ in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre before returning for breakfast. Stay tuned.

What an amazing day! We’ve loved following along and sharing in the experience. We can’t wait to hear more about it when you get home. May God continue to bless you on your travels.

    Fr. Barr,

We have enjoyed watching your journey with the others every day. You and the rest have REALLY taken us along. The feeling we got sitting here when you guys entered Bethlehem was awesome.

Listening to your story, watching you celebrate mass, make us not be able to wait to see you and hear about ALL your ventures.

Take care. You and the others have a safe trip home. I saw Kate Platta and Johnathon Baakelund last night at RE and told them that we were watching your journey.

    Sue
