Jesus came out of the Tomb for us this morning…

by Steve Ray on November 20, 2015

The alarm went off this morning at 3:15 and we began the Via Dolorosa at 4:00 AM. Why, are we crazy! Yes, crazy like a fox. We beat the crowds and pray the Stations with empty streets. It is also about continuity.

We had Mass IN THE TOMB scheduled with the sunrise at 5:30 AM and wanted to carry our crosses through the Via Dolorosa to Calvary first. We had time to touch the top of Calvary with NO ONE else in the Church which is usually packed like a sardine can. We took a quick tour of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre before entering the Tomb for Mass at 5:30 AM.

The rest of the day was great with a free afternoon and evening. We also visited the top of the Mount of Olives, the Western Wall and I gave my talk “The Story of Salvation from Adam and Eve until Today” looking out over Jerusalem. Enjoy!

Oh, and what did I mean that Jesus came out of the Tomb for us this morning? I told our pilgrims, “Just watch. Today at Mass in the Tomb Jesus will again come out of the Tomb for you in the form of the Blessed Sacrament. His Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity will come out of the Tomb for you today.”

Mt Olive is where Jesus taught the Apostles the Lords Prayer. I never understood why the Protestants Changed the Prayer by adding a verse. The WALL is amazing I had to wear a paper yamicah, it looks as though the Christian men were allowed to wear a normal hat. Interesting! Food Looks 1st class…

Via Dolorosa at early morning time is the sign of a 1st class tour Guide! Organized..

Oh it looks like a great experience! I was in the Holy Land in the beginning of October this year. Watching your video gave me chills. You were SO lucky you did not have to deal with crowds at the Top of Calvary. We did and I didn’t get enough time there for my liking. Thank you for sharing this and having a video of it! I encourage anyone who is considering a pilgrimage tour to take it!!! I never felt unsafe when I traveled there (I traveled with a different group). The Via Dolorsa so early in the morning is incredible too. Thank you Steve. Your speaking engagements have taught me a lot and your trips to Israel encouraged me to try it too. I would go back in a heartbeat!!
