Pope Up Close, Face of God Up Close: Pilgrimage Cruise Day 4

by Steve Ray on October 29, 2014

What an amazing day! Starting with a 5:00 AM wake up call so we could be the first ones in line to enter St. Peter’s Square for the General Audience with Pope Francis. And boy, did that pay off!

All of our people got to see the Pope up close. It was a marvelous morning and a great experience for everyone.

Then lunch at the local cafes before heading across the heart of Italy through the beautiful Apennines Mountains still covered with snow.

We came to Manoppella in the mountains to visit the Church of the Holy Face containing the miraculous face cloth of Christ which was found in the tomb of Jesus by Peter and John in St. John 20. Mass in front of this miraculous relic was moving for everyone.

If you haven’t heard about this you will enjoy this video very much.

Then to Lanciano for excellent Italian food and wine. We got to bed early for a good night’s sleep before Mass tomorrow in front of the Lanciano Eucharistic Miracle.

And wait until you hear the moving segment of Fr. Michael’s vocation story. It was wonderful. Enjoy!
