Holy Land with Franciscan University: June 2018 (SOLD OUT)
18 June 2018 to 29 June 2018
This is a one-bus pilgrimage.
We will be joined by folks associated with Franciscan University and our chaplain will be Fr. Sean Sheridan, president of the Franciscan University of Steubenville. Everyone is welcome!
Steve and Janet have partnered with the same Catholic Nazarene guide for all their trips over the last decade. Amer Shehadeh is a practicing Catholic and a walking encyclopedia. We consider him the finest Christian guide in the Holy Land–and we are not alone in that assessment. Having a Christian guide is very important.
Steve and Janet Ray plan and execute every aspect of this trip–personally. They are with you every step of the pilgrimage.
You’ll enjoy Steve and Janet’s trusted hotels and delicious meals including some amazing dinner experiences away from the typical hotel buffets.
Wine is provided with all dinners along with a wide range of cuisines to experience the Holy Land to it’s fullest.
You will receive their 110-page color handbook, daily YouTube videos so your family and friends can join you virtually every day and a fully edited movie of your trip upon your return home.
Steve personally teaches at the holy sites and shares experiences from over 150 previous trips to Israel and other biblical lands since 1995. We do everything we can to support the local Christians who only make up 1.5% of the population.
Daily Mass at the holiest sites and we pray every Mystery of the Rosary where it took place. Also, pray the Stations of the Cross on the way to Calvary and Mass at the Tomb.
Franciscan Pilgrimages invites you to join this unique and intimate pilgrimage. You will be with like-minded Catholics from around the country for a marvelous pilgrimage through the land of our Lord and Our Lady.
Our priest will be one of Steve and Janet’s good friends who has joined us as chaplain before. His name is Fr. Sean Sheridan. Everyone loves his fine homilies, devout Masses, personal and jovial manner.
Here is one fun family you will be traveling with!!
Our Sold-out Group Arrives in Israel
Everyone arrived in good order and ready to go. No luggage lost and we got up to Galilee in good time. However, it was one of our latest arrivals ever since the plane arrived over three hours late. But we’re all settled in and ready for a big day tomorrow starting with the Mass at Mount Tabor (Transfiguration).

Day 5: Bethlehem all day with Mass in a Cave, Nativity, Dinner and Dancing!
A great day in Bethlehem starting with shopping at one of the most beautiful Christian shops in the city. Lots of fun! Then to the Church of Nativity to touch the birthplace of Christ. Very emotional!
Have you ever eaten a falafel or Shwarma? That was our next stop. Very tasty! And we even got Fr. Sean and Sister Jean making falafel’s. From there we drove down into the valley of death from Psalm 23 and then to Mass in the cave where the shepherds were on the first Christmas Eve. Fr. Sean’s marvelous homily is here.
A short walk away and we came to the Grotto Restaurant owned by Christians where we had a marvelous Passover lamb dinner with a mountain of Palestinian rice. Then the Christian dancers came out in traditional costume and put on a show for us and then we all jumped up and danced with them. What fun!
Day 6: Museum, Jordan River, Jericho, Qumran, Dead Sea & Camels
Great day of fun and adventure. Enjoy!
Day 7: Gethsemane, Mount of Olives, Mt. Zion, Entry into Tomb, Rooftop of Jerusalem...
Today we started with Mass and talks at Gethsemane. Fr. Sheridan’s emotional homily here.
Then to the top of the Mount of Olives, an overview of Jerusalem that is spectacular and my talk “The Story of Salvation History“ with it all right before our eyes.
Lunch at a Jewish Kibbutz, saw the new US Embassy in Jerusalem, visited the place Commemorating the end of Mary’s earthly life, the Upper Room and the dungeon of Christ at Gallicantu.
And the crown jewel was next. After two hours to shower and relax and regroup at the Notre Dame Center we walked over to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to join the Franciscans as they escorted us personally and very specially into the Tomb of Christ. No one realized how cool this was until we actually did it.
After that, we had dinner on the rooftop of Jerusalem looking out over the city of Jerusalem and the Holy Sepulchre.
