Day 4: Capernaum, Primacy, Tabgha, Golan Heights, Caesarea Philippi

We began our day at Mass in the church above the house where Peter and Jesus lived in Capernaum. I gave my talk. “Defending the Eucharist“ at the very place where Jesus said “Eat My Flesh, Drink My Blood!“ Visited the ancient synagogue. Then to two sites on the shore of Galilee. I gave my talk on John 21 at the Primacy of Peter – Mensa Christi. We touched the rock where Jesus fed the

Day 3 Israel: Transfiguration, Cana & Nazareth

And so we begin our first full day of pilgrimage. Everyone got a good nights sleep, listening to the waves of the Sea of Galilee and the night birds. We had a luxurious breakfast (not just Continental). We took off early this morning to catch the first taxis up Mount Tabor to visit the site of the Transfiguration. Always a favorite and hard to get people to leave. They all say, like Peter, “It is

Day 1-2 Wow! It is great to be back in the Holy Land!

It is exciting to be the first big bus of American Pilgrims back in the Holy Land. We have 53 great folks on our pilgrimage, including our granddaughter Bella and two wonderful families with all their kids and one with their

We made a short nine-minute video as we walked through the old city of Jerusalem to visit Calvary and the tomb in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. You’ll see the Christmas festivities and also see that Jerusalem is normal, though the pilgrims have not yet returned. This is the best time to visit because we waited exactly 8 minutes in line to go into the tomb when in times passed it can be hours.

Our Friend Paul Badde and the Facecloth of Manoppello

We spent many happy times together at the Holy Face but also in Rome, where he often took us to his favorite places and gave talks to our groups. This is a picture of us toward the beginning of our friendship in 2011. Below is a nice summary and memory of our friend’s life and work. We miss you, Paul!   Catholic author Alan Holdren is remembering German journalist Paul Badde, whose adventurous reporting and
