Holy Land Pilgrimage Day Four
by Steve Ray on January 26, 2008
We started the day with a visit to the Ancient Boat recovered from the mud in the Sea of Galilee from the first century. Then we took an hour boat ride out on the Sea of Galilee. Mass at Capernaum, a drive up through the Golan Heights for lunch at a Druze Restaurant. Delicious! Then to the foot of Mount Hermon to Banias which was called Caesarea Philippi in the New Testament (Matt 16). I gave my talk "Peter: the Rock, the Keys & the Chair."
We then drove to the south end of the Sea of Galilee for renewal of baptism vows in the Jordan River. (To see the group shot at the Jordan, click here.) Then Steve gave his conversion on the bus ride down the Jordan Valley opposite the mountains of Moab then up 4400 feet to Jerusalem. We had dinner and settled in to our hotel at the Notre Dame which is owned by the Vatican. Everyone is doing great and having a wonderful time. No problems, issues or troubles. Everyone is commenting on how safe and friendly everything is. More soon.
