Mass at 1st Church in America; Fountain of Youth in St Augustine

by Steve Ray on November 4, 2021

On our last full day of the pilgrimage here to Saint Augustine Florida we started with mass at the first church in America. The Spanish Catholics came over in 1565 and built a Parish Church. Today it is the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Augustine and known as the very first church in America.

We had a beautiful Mass there and you can hear/see the homily HERE. PLUS the whole Mass was live streamed on YouTube HERE thanks to Deacon Doug Nullet.

We also renewed our baptismal vows in the old baptismal font there.

We had a wonderful tour and a talk about the early life here in the city by a descendant of the original Minorcans.

A couple of hours of free time to enjoy the city and find cafés and restaurants for lunch and then we gathered together to go to the Fountain of Youth and to discuss Ponce De Leon. Great demonstrations and recreations.  I closed out the day with the magnificent farewell dinner with great food and wine and fellowship.
