Postponing February 2024 Jordan & Israel Pilgrimage

by Steve Ray on January 6, 2024

Dear Footprints of God Pilgrim,

On November 28, we promised you an update by January 5.  We have been watching the Israel-Hamas war closely — and with sorrow. It has caused us to postpone several of our Holy Land trips, now including yours.

We appreciate your trust in Footprints of God and our logistics partner Corporate Travel (and our partners overseas) as we’ve tried to determine the best course of action due to the situation in Israel.

The latest reports suggest that tourism may begin to resume in late February. Jordan is currently open and ready to receive groups. But even though there is some optimism, Israel is the “wild card”. Things there are still tentative. There are reports that major airlines will resume flights in mid-February. But on several fronts there are still uncertainties for the next month or two.

After lots of consultation and prayer, and despite the re-emerging optimism, we think it is best to be cautious and postpone your February trip.  Time is not our friend at this point. We would need to receive everyone’s final payment within a week or two because of required non-refundable payments to all the suppliers overseas. Comprehensive insurance to cover war and terrorism is not possible at this late date due to the “pre-existing condition”. Due to uncertainties we know that many of you would rather not go at this time and hold off until later.

After February, we have two Holy Land trips scheduled in May. We expect them to operate as planned.

We already have scheduled the exact same trip to Jordan and Israel in February 2025. We hope you can join us next year.  If not, we are providing multiple pilgrimage options this year or a refund. You will see your options below.

The prevailing terms of your contract do not provide for a refund of monies paid, BUT because we greatly value you and your loyalty, Corporate Travel has agreed to alter their standard terms and is offering options that help protect your investment including moving to next February’s Jordan-Israel trip, choosing another of our pilgrimages listed below, or a refund of monies paid.

We ask only that you provide a response to us using the form below by January 19, 2024 so that we can provide this information to our suppliers.

Again we are so sorry for the circumstances beyond our control. As my deceased father used to say, “What a revolting development — but may the Lord’s will be done.” And, Janet and I would add, even with this change of plans, may you have a Blessed New Year.

Thanks for your trust and partnership and we hope to see you later this year or next year to show you our favorite places in the whole world. Please pray for us.
